Fencing set to compete at Super Cup, NYU Invitation

Fencing will make the short trip to Queens on Saturday for the St. John’s Super Cup, and will follow up with the NYU Invitational on Sunday.

The women’s team (13-1), currently ranked second in the nation, will take on the No. 1 Fighting Irish, who recently took Columbia’s spot as the top team in the nation. One of the squad’s sharpest weapons this season has been its foil division, which remains undefeated with a 15-0 record.

The men’s team (12-2) suffered a pair of losses to the Nittany Lions and Duke in last weekend’s Penn State Invite, but will look to prove its No. 1 ranking at the Queens event with a rematch against Penn State looming.

Columbia will face No. 4 Harvard on Saturday, the last conference matchup before the Ivy League Championships in early February.

The Super Cup is set to begin at 10:00 a.m. in Queens on Saturday, followed by the NYU Invite at the same location on Sunday morning.
