Fencing looks to continue dominance at Historical Meet

In its first meet since both its men's and women's teams were crowned Ivy League champions, the Columbia fencing squad will host its annual Historical Meet on Wednesday.

The meet will feature some of the Light Blue's closest neighbors, including NYU, Sacred Heart, and Vassar. Columbia has traditionally fared well at the Historical Meet, sweeping both the men's and women's squads of all three competitors at last year's event, and losing only three of the total 30 matchups in the past five years.

The meet—coming on the heels of the Ivy League Championships—will be a welcome break for many of the Lions' starting fencers and will also give the team's younger talent some time on the mat.

This will mark Columbia's last event before a three-week hiatus from the piste after which they will take part in the Squad Championships at St. John’s.

The first bout is set to begin at 5 p.m. in Levien's Blue Gym against NYU.
